Seagate LD25 Series

The Seagate LD25 series is a new range of 2.5" drives from Seagate, specifically targeted at video game consoles and small form factor (SFF) digital video recorders.

It offers a more cost-effective storage solution for those who want a smaller form factor but without the cost associated with notebook hard drives.

By designing the drive specifically for digital media appliances, Seagate can do away without features that are required by notebook PCs. Still, Seagate claims these drives will offer quiet operation, low power requirements and reliable performance.

The LD25 series will debut in the first quarter of 2007 in both Parallel ATA as well as Serial ATA flavours. Seagate will offer a range of capacities, ranging from 20GB to 80GB.

Here is a list of its key features :

  • Slim 2.5" form factor
  • Quiet operation
  • Low power requirements
  • Backward compatible with chipsets using legacy DMA modes
