The AMD Radeon R9 380X is designed for beyond 1080p gaming. Its target gaming resolution is 1440p.
AMD is targeting it at gamers with old graphics cards, like the GeForce GTX 660 or the Radeon HD 7850, or near-obsolescent cards like the GeForce GTX 760 or the Radeon R9 270X.
Here is the meat of the whole presentation - the confirmed specifications of the Radeon R9 380X. It has a base clock of 970 MHz with 128 texture units and 32 ROPs. It will come with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory. With a board power of 190 W, it will need two 6-pin PCI Express power connectors.
