Digg! Reddit!Add to Reddit | Bookmark this article:

Introduction

Kingston Technology Company, Inc. is one of the better known suppliers of memory modules, having had a good many years of experience in supplying OEMs with memory products.

They have also been active in the retail scene with their their ValueRAM range. And in 2002, Kingston launched their high-performance HyperX range of memory modules to meet the needs of enthusiasts.

Our object of review this time is the 1GB Kingston PC2-5400 DDR2 dual-channel kit, with the model number KHX5400D2K2/1G. This dual-channel kit comprises of two 512MB modules which Kingston has tested and verified to work in a dual-channel configuration.

Let's get on with the review!

Packaging

Like all the other Kingston memory modules, black plastic is used in the packaging. It is therefore more suitable for off-the-shelf display, rather than on heavy-duty shipping protection like those of Mushkin's!

If you've bought Kingston memory in the past, this box should be familiar to you
The HyperX logo on the label suggests that this isn't just any ordinary module...

Kingston modules are easy to identify in their original packaging. The model number is printed in bold text on the sticker on the front. The sticker also describes the contents of the package, giving basic information such as size, speed and CAS latency.

The information stickers on the modules themselves can also be seen through the transparent cover of the package.
