The Battery

Another factor that contributes to the size of the Zen is the battery. Battery life is always an important factor in portable devices. That's why it's nice to see Creative utilize the size of the Zen to their advantage. Let's take a look at the battery.

The battery is HUGE! It is about a quarter of the Zen's size! Just look at the capacity of the battery - 3.6Ah, or in other words, 3,600 mAh. That's a LOT of juice.

The battery is also removable so you can just get more batteries from Creative Labs. Battery life of the Zen as claimed by Creative is 22 hours of audio playback or 7 hours of video playback. I know you will want to know the ACTUAL battery life. Well, I'm running the tests right now so results later on! ;)

According to the manual, it takes about 1-2 hours to fully charge an empty battery. I can't hold them to that because I didn't time the recharge time exactly. But since the battery's capacity is so high, the charge time sounds about right.
