Western Digital External Hard Disk Drives

Western Digital has a wide variety of external storage products for both the PC and Mac markets. The external drives are available in both large desktop and smaller portable formats. Under the portable segment alone, Western Digital offers three drive families for the PC, and four drive families for the Mac, and with a new family - the Wireless Portable Drive.

Today, we are going to take a look at the 2 TB Western Digital My Passport Wireless (WDBDAF0020BBK). It is currently the model with the largest storage capacity in the Western Digital My Passport Wireless Family. The other two storage capacities available are 1 TB and 500 GB, and all three models boast the following features :

Packaging & Contents

The 2 TB Western Digital My Passport Wireless (WDBDAF0020BBK) came in a retail cardboard box with a flip cover that conceals a clear plastic window. Flipping over the cover allows you to eyeball the drive itself. Western Digital currently offers the My Passport Wireless only in one colour option - Silver, with a Black top.

The box is actually a generic box for all My Passport Wireless drives, so the drive capacity is identified by the green sticker on the lower right corner of the front flip cover. The base of the box has a sticker that lists the drive's serial number and place of manufacture (Thailand), it also confirms the drive's warranty period. This drive comes with a 2 year worldwide warranty, as well as free 30-day telephone support.

Inside, you will find that the drive is well-protected by a plastic enclosure that doubles as the clear plastic window of the box. Once you take it apart, you will find the following items :
