Crucial Ballistix Active Cooling Fan
Crucial is a well known computer memory manufacturer, producing not only standard DDR2 and DDR3 memory but also performance-grade Ballistix memory modules and even solid state drives and Gizmo! USB drives. They are not known for producing computer accessories, however, and so you might be surprised to learn that Crucial actually offers an active memory cooler - the Ballistix Active Cooling Fan, which boasts the following features :
- Active cooling for your Ballistix memory
- Increase airflow to your system memory
- Reduce memory temperatures with proper airflow
- Easy to attach (flex attachment to memory sockets with no tools required)
- Low noise level
- Complementary color scheme (black/silver)
- Clear fans allow you to still see your Ballistix Tracer lights (sold separately)
- Limited 1 year warranty
The advantage of such a cooler is obvious - active cooling courtesy of two fans will greatly improve the thermal dissipation of the memory modules and allow for better overclocking and a longer lifespan. Let's see how well it performs.

Inside the box, you will find the following items :
- One Crucial Ballistix active cooling fan
- Two retention clips
- One set of four screws
- One 3-pin to 4-pin power adaptor
- One installation guide
The retention clips and screws are individually packed into plastic bags to prevent them from getting scratched. The chromed surfaces of the fan and retention clips are susceptible to scratches and fingerprint stains, so be careful when you take them out.
