Essential, Value & Basic Processors

Here is Intel's latest internal roadmap for their Essential, Value and Basic processors.

In the next 3 months, Intel will start replacing their remaining 65 nm E4xxx processors with 45 nm E7xxx processors in the Essential tier. Even the Value line will see the introduction of the 45 nm E5200 which will slowly replace the E2220 as the highest-end Value-line processor. However, the Pentium Dual-Core E2xxx and Celeron Dual-Core E1xxx 65 nm processors are set to remain in production way into 2009.

The low-powered Celeron 220 will immediately be replaced by the new Intel Atom processors. Although only single-core Atom processors have been launched so far, Intel will be introducing a dual-core Atom processor in the next quarter - the Intel Atom 330.

What's known about the Intel Atom 330 is that it will run at 1.6 GHz with a 533 MHz FSB and an L2 cache size of 512 KB per core. Even with two processing cores, it will have a peak TDP of only 8 W, which makes this processor one cool dude!
