The New Units!

Most of the new units are clearly designed to counter certain strategies, particularly the spell-casting units. Especially in the heat of a battle, some players may overlook magic and spells. However, this may prove to be a fatal mistake.
While new units like the Spell Breaker and Faerie Dragon will not bolster your army with additional firepower and strength, adding a few of these babies can make a huge impact and turn the tide of battle! For example, the Spell Breakers may not be very strong physically, but when they start stealing your Bloodlust or Inner Fire enchantments and transferring them upon their own units, it can really hurt you a lot!
The Faerie Dragons prove to be deadly units too as they are immune to spells! Their ability to cast Mana Flare that damage enemies when they cast spells makes opponents think twice before casting any spells. Don't underestimate them! :)
The new Mountain Giant unit helps compensate for the weaker melee units of the Night Elves such as the Huntress. They have the ability to take massive damage and they are highly resistant against most spells. Their Taunt ability is useful in forcing the enemy to attack them. This stops the enemies from attacking weaker, ranged units such as the Archers.
In Reign of Chaos, the Undead was granted great offensive spells like Frost Nova and Carrion Swarm. However, they were often criticized for having slow mana regeneration. Even worse, the Undead had no unit that can quickly regenerate depleted mana.
But now that the Undead in Frozen Throne have the Obsidian Statue, slow mana regeneration will be a thing of a past. These fortified mobile statues regenerate both mana and health points of the Undead Scourge. When they are needed for air and/or land defence or offensive operations, they can transform themselves into Destroyers permanently. The Destroyer is designed to counter any spells cast on its Undead brethren. Initially, Destroyers can cast Devour Magic, which dispel all buffs in the area and restore health and mana to itself.
Most Warcraft fans must be pretty surprised and disappointed when no naval units debuted in the original Warcraft III release. I must say I was pretty surprised too. This is probably Blizzard's biggest mistake. However, they realized this and wasted no time in creating a few naval units for the expansion pack. What a big difference that made!
With the likes of naval units like the Destroyer, Battleship and Troop Transport appearing in Frozen Throne, Blizzard has just added a new level to the Warcraft III experience. Although naval combat in Frozen Throne is rather simplistic, its inclusion is really a nice touch. It certainly makes up what what Reign of Chaos lacked!
