The Samsung Galaxy S6 Smartphone Revealed!
Samsung Mobile Malaysia managed to grab a few of these engineering samples from their South Korean HQ for this event. Here is the black Samsung Galaxy Note Edge on the left, while on the right are the gold Samsung Galaxy S6 and two white Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphones.
We were fortunate to be amongst those who managed to try out a Samsung Galaxy S6. Of course, this is an engineering sample, but we are told it's the final version and will be similar in all aspects to the retail version, which will be released in 10 countries on the 10th of April 2015.
We took another look at the Samsung Galaxy S6, which features a large 5.1" Super AMOLED display with an astounding 577 PPI pixel density. While the screen was amazing, the size was a little too large for single-handed use, as this video shows. The new Galaxy S6 is, for us, best used with two hands.
Although Samsung has yet to reveal the official specifications of the new Galaxy S6, we sneaked a peek at the device information for the engineering sample... Check it out!
The Samsung Galaxy S6 will have the model number SM-G920F and ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop (obviously!). This engineering sample is running on Android 5.0.2.
The new Galaxy S6 features super quick charging. Samsung Mobile claims that it will only require a 10 minute charge to provide 4 hours of usage, and that a full recharge takes half as long as an Apple iPhone 6 Plus.
We found out that this is because the Galaxy S6 is capable of drawing 1.67A of current at 9V! Compare that to the usual 5V, 1.5A charging.
