Kingston SD Cards
Kingston Technology has been a long-time producer of flash memory cards, from the good old CompactFlash cards to the miniscule microSD cards; as well as fast card readers to complement them.
They currently offer four classes of full-sized SD cards :
-
UHS-I Class 3 professional-grade SD cards
-
Class 10 UHS-I professional-grade SD cards
-
Class 10 UHS-I enhanced-grade SD cards
-
Class 4 standard SD cards
Today, we are going to take a look at the latest member of the Kingston Class 10 UHS-I professional-grade SD card - the 256 GB Kingston Class 10 UHS-I SDXC Card. Here are its key features :
Versatile - Class 10 performance when used in a non-UHS-I capable device.

Secure - built-in write-protect switch prevents accidental data loss.

Packaging
The 256 GB Kingston Class 10 UHS-I SDXC Card comes in a retail package that clearly displays the card itself through a clear plastic shell, protected by a cardboard anti-theft sleeve. The card's key specifications are clearly printed in the front of the cardboard sleeve and the card itself.
Take note of this warning at the back. This is an SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity) card, so it's incompatible with the older (standard) SD and SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) devices and readers. This is partly because SDXC cards are pre-formatted with the exFAT file system, and mainly because SD and SDHC devices only support up to 4 GB and 32 GB of storage respectively.
So please make sure the device you intend to use this card with supports the SDXC format (SD Specification 3.01). It doesn't matter if the device supports UHS-I (Ultra High Speed) bus or not. If it doesn't, then this card will be limited to the Class 10 speed.
The card is accessed by cutting off the top of the cardboard sleeve, along the dotted line printed at the back. Then slip out the clear plastic shell, which flips open to allow you access to the 256 GB Kingston Class 10 UHS-I SDXC Card. There is nothing else inside the package.
