Presenting The Radeon R9 Fury X

AMD started the event with a short opening speech by Ryan Sim, the Channel Sales Director of AMD Asean.

Then AMD officially launched the Radeon R9 Fury X graphics card with Ryan Sim, Richard Huddy (Chief Gaming Scientist, AMD) and Garrath Johnson (CG Communications Lead, AMD Asia Pacific and Japan) taking turns to smash the ice sculpture.

Finally, Garrath Johnson (CG Communications Lead, AMD Asia Pacific and Japan) gave a lengthy presentation on the key features of the new AMD Radeon R9 Fury X graphics card. Even if you had already read everything there is to read about it, it's still an enlightening presentation.

The Radeon R9 Fury X Up Close & Personal

For a top-of-the-range graphics card, the AMD Radeon R9 Fury X is surprisingly short. Thanks to the integration of the HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) chips onto the GPU package, and the use of a water cooling system, AMD managed to cut the Fury X down to a 7.5" (19 cm) long PCB. Of course, it requires the use of a separate radiator, so the whole setup still presents considerable heft and space requirements.

AMD provided not only an actual sample of the Fury X for us to touch and hold and fondle and admire and fawn over, they also set up several systems for us to play with. ASUS Malaysia had two of the most stunning setups - a VR setup with a Crescent Bay prototype, and a triple monitor setup using their 27" MG279Q gaming monitor with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 each and a 144 Hz refresh rate.
