Swivel Base
The Cool Stand has a neat swivel feature that turns it from an ordinary passive notebook cooler into a presentation platform. It works like a Lazy Susan, allowing you to swivel the notebook a full 360°. To prevent the Cool Stand from moving about whenever you swivel it, the swivel base has four rubber feet.

The swivel base is attached to the base plate by a single screw. Unscrewing it reveals a plastic ring sandwiched between the base plate and the swivel base. The ring has six spokes, each ending in a steel ball bearing. It is these ball bearings that allow the Cool Stand to swivel smoothly.

Unfortunately, while the Cool Stand swiveled smoothly, it did so rather noisily. It's likely due to the rough edges of the plastic ring as well as the friction of the ball bearings on the plastic surfaces in contact.
Adjustable Height
The Cool Stand comes with two rows of open notches next to the rails which keep the support rod in alignment. They allow you to adjust the height of the support rod in seven fixed increments.
However, the support rod is supported only by these open notches. So, it is possible to knock it off the notches if you bump the Cool Stand hard enough.
Therefore, it is advisable that you do not jostle the Cool Stand about. If the support rod skips a notch, it will come crashing down with the notebook. The resulting shock will certainly not be good for your notebook's hard drive. Perhaps Jetart will add a lock of some sort in future versions of the Cool Stand.
