The HTC One (M8) Launch Event
Last night, HTC Malaysia officially launched the HTC One (M8), the 2014 evolution of the award-winning HTC One smartphone. At hand for the launch was SK Wong, Country Manager of HTC Malaysia, Sirpa Ikola, Senior Marketing Director of HTC South Asia and Justin Zhang, Head of Product Portfolio of HTC South Asia with a special guest - celebrity photographer Kid Chan!
The new HTC One (M8) features a 5" full HD display with 2 GB of RAM and a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, and will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat and HTC Sense 6. It will be available in two colours - Gunmetal Gray and Glacial Silver. It has an official price of RM 2,399 (~US$ 759).
Although HTC offers the new HTC One (M8) with 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage, HTC Malaysia will only bring in the 16 GB model. Yes, you read that right - there won't be a 32 GB model, at least in Malaysia. This is because the HTC One (M8) addressed one complaint that many users had with the HTC One and the follow-up HTC One Mini - the inability to upgrade its built-in flash storage. The new HTC One (M8) comes with a microSD card slot that supports up to 128 GB of additional storage.
HTC is doubling down on their quality over pixel count strategy by retaining the same 4.0 megapixel UltraPixel BSI sensor with 2.0 µm pixels as well as the large and fast f/2.0 lens that debuted in the HTC One. However, to cater to the selfie craze, HTC upgraded the front camera to a 5 MP BSI sensor with a fast f/2.0 wide angle lens. Both cameras are capable of recording 1080p video. The main camera is, incidentally, supported by a secondary camera that captures depth information. This enables special effects like "refocusing" after the shot is taken, and modifying the background with special effects.

Key Features Of The HTC One (M8)
In this video, Justin Zhang (Head of Product Portfolio, HTC South Asia) goes through the key features of the HTC One (M8). This is an important video to watch for those who are wondering if the HTC One (M8) is the smartphone you want to buy to replace your current mobile phone, or even upgrade from the previous HTC One (M7).
And now, celebrity photographer, Kid Chan, is seen here raving about his HTC One (M8) smartphone and how it allows him to take DSLR quality photos on-the-go.
Finally, Justin goes through the HTC One (M8)'s advanced photography capabilities, including its iconic Duo Camera with "depth capture" capability.
The effect of the UFocus feature can be seen in these two examples of the same photograph taken by the HTC One (M8) smartphone.
