Conclusion

I have to admit - this is probably the most biased section of the entire article. Even before I tested all the browsers, I had already made up my mind which web browser I want installed on my Android smartphone.

Opera Mini and Dolphin Mini were my early favourites - they were already installed before I started this comparison. Opera Mobile 11 was a surprised addition, as I was pretty disappointed with Opera Mobile 10. However, Opera Mobile 11 is a big leap forward, and it is therefore, my new favourite Android web browser.

So why did I pick these 3?

Opera Mini has been my favourite since the Windows Mobile days. It is fast, has a great RSS reader. However, its rendering is probably the worst in this line-up.

Dolphin Mini is easily the best alternative to the stock Android browser. It inherits all the great attributes of the WebKit engine, while adding improved tab browsing, user agent, orientation lock and private browsing.

Finally, Opera Mobile 11 is the fastest web browser for the Android platform. It loads fast, scrolls smoothly and is responsive even on content-heavy websites. Pinch zooming on Opera Mobile 11 is smooth and you won't see any no checkerboard effect. Hopefully, they will make further improvements and add features like user agent in the near future.

I may not have extensive experience of using some browsers like Miren, Skyfire, Xscope, but they were all tested for at least 30 minutes, as well as stress testing on content-heavy websites.

If you are interested in more exotic web browsers, give Miren and Xscope a try. They are my personal picks outside my favourite 3. To finish off, here's the summary of the web browsers we covered :
