Real Life Samples
Here are some photographs from my own personal collection to give you some idea of what you can do with your mobile phone. All of these photographs were taken with a camera phone and are unedited.
The pond in the background sets just the right setting for this shot focused on some clay miniature figurines in the middle of some sort of mahjong game. Note the location of the focused figurines which are in line with the rule of thirds. |
This close-up of handwriting in action shows the high amount of detail that a macro shot can capture. |
This photo of grass shows the effects of focusing with near and far objects being blurred while the center distance is in focus. | In this photo of a Japanese sushi, we can see what happens when we actually get the entire subject to cover the entire photograph. Use some angles slightly away from the norm to achieve an artistic effect. Don’t angle it too much or the photo will look weird. |
The same thing goes for this photo of a fried rice dish. There’s not much angle being used here but I’ve chosen to place the edges of the bowl to make a flowing line from bottom left to top right as a way of guiding the viewer’s eye into the photo. |
In this shot taken inside a diner, the warm lighting set the mood for a pleasant and relaxing experience. |
I took this shot from underneath a patio with a transparent roof. The leaves resting on the roof gave it an abstract look and the wooden frame of the roof added some structural art into the mix. |
