This is the most important test for those who intend to use the FreeAgent GoFlex as a portable boot drive. In this small random access test, the 1.5 TB FreeAgent GoFlex did poorly compared to the flash-based Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 and OCZ Enyo drives. That said, it was the fastest HDD-based portable drive in this comparison.

When it came to large 512 KB random accesses, the 1.5 TB FreeAgent GoFlex remained the fastest HDD-based portable drive in the comparison. However, it was still much slower at random accesses than flash-based drives like the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 and the OCZ Enyo.
