Introduction
The first MP3 players came in the form of flash-based players. Small and compact, they are easy to carry around. But early models had very limited capacity. Therefore, the introduction of hard disk-based players with much larger storage capacities took a big bite out of the popularity of flash-based players.
Still, flash-based players have a lot to offer over hard disk-based players. Flash-based players do not have any moving parts, and are therefore a lot more rugged and will survive falls that will kill hard disk-based players. In addition, improvements in flash memory have resulted in a massive gain in capacity. So, flash-based MP3 players are here to stay.
Recently, I got myself a flash-based Hyundai HY-6611 MP3 Player from Hong Kong. Actually, it's more appropriately known as an all-in-one MP3 player as it functions as a combination of an MP3/WMA player, USB flash drive, voice recorder and FM radio receiver! Not only that, it comes with a massive capacity of 1GB!
Today, we will be taking a close look at this interesting new MP3 player.
The Package
The Hyundai MP3 player comes in a small package, no bigger than two of my hands put together.
You can actually see the Hyundai MP3 player from the front of the box, thanks to the transparent plastic window. The side of the box shows that the player is available in two different colours - gray (marked) and blue.
Hmm... blue. I wonder how it looks like. The one I have here is gray in colour.
The back of the box displays the specifications of the player.
The box actually slides opens from the side.
