How Do I Make The Text In Windows 7 Look Better?
Microsoft Windows 7 does a pretty good job of automatically detecting your monitor and setting it up correctly. However, if you want to optimize ClearType for maximum readability, this is what you should do.
- Go to the Control Panel (Start -> Control Panel) and click on Display.
-
In the Display page, you have the option of magnifying the size of the text and other items on the screen, but what we are really looking for is the Adjust ClearType text option.
- When you click on Adjust ClearType text, it will load the ClearType Text Tuner. By default, ClearType is enabled. It should remain enabled unless you are using a CRT monitor. Click Next to start the optimization process.
- The first thing the tuner does is verify that your monitor has been set to its native resolution. For sharp, crisp text, the LCD monitor must be set to its native resolution.
-
After making sure you are using the monitor's native resolution, you will be asked to select the best looking text amongst several possibilities. There will be four stages to go through.
- After you have gone through the four stages, you have successfully optimized ClearType for your LCD monitor!
