The Cool Stand
The Jetart Cool Stand is made entirely of black ABS plastic. As black goes well with anything, it's a safe choice for Jetart.
The Cool Stand consists of a plastic base plate measuring about 26 cm wide and almost 28 cm deep, and an adjustable support rod that serves to elevate one end of the notebook. Do note that the front end of the base plate has an elevated stopper which prevents the notebook from sliding off the Cool Stand.
The height of the support rod is adjusted by hooking the support struts in a series of notches. With the support rod folded down, the Cool Stand is a svelte 25 mm thin. That makes it an easy fit in most notebook bags.
The base has a swivel base, essentially turning the Cool Stand into a Lazy Susan for notebooks. The swivel base has four rubber feet to provide traction and prevent the Cool Stand from shifting when you turn it around.
Material & Quality
As mentioned earlier, the Cool Stand is mostly made out of ABS (Acrylonitrile, Butadiene and Styrene) plastic. The three components of ABS plastic help make the Cool Stand tough and resistant to heat.
Acrylonitrile and styrene both provide increased resistance to heat and gives the plastic a hard, rigid form. The butadiene component gives the plastic added toughness.
So, while it is made almost entirely from plastic, the Cool Stand feels really sturdy, and should stand up to considerable amount of abuse. The only weak point might be the support struts. While they seem sturdy enough to support several kilos of weight, we would have liked them to be thicker.
As an added advantage, ABS plastic is cheap. This translates into much lower production costs and retail prices. The Cool Stand is hence much cheaper than aluminium-based notebook coolers like the Nexus TDD-3000 heatpipe notebook cooler.
