Western Digital Red (WD60EFRX) 6 TB NAS Hard Disk Drive Review Rev. 2.0

IOPS Scaling (Sequential)

In these tests, we tested the drive's ability to tackle multiple input/output operations. Again, we compared the 6 TB Western Digital Red (WD60EFRX) to the 4 TB Western Digital Red (WD40EFRX). For more performance comparisons, please take a look at The Hard Disk Drive Performance Comparison Guide.

When it comes to small sequential accesses, both drives performed similarly with single I/Os. But when multiple transactions started queuing up, the 6 TB drive did much better. This shows that the Marvell 88i1047 processor used in the 6 TB drive is likely to be much faster than the Marvell 88i9446 processor used in the 4 TB drive.
