Weatherproofing Camera Lenses (Continued)
- Start by squeezing a thin bead of the DuPont Krytox grease along the edges of the focus ring.
- Then turn the focus ring to help the Krytox grease seep in and infiltrate into the lens.
Apply a thin bead of the Krytox grease. | Turn the focus ring to help the grease seep in. |
- If you like, you can also use a dry, lint-free cloth to "rub" in the grease. Otherwise, gravity and movement of the focus ring should do the trick.
- Once you are satisfied that enough Krytox is in the lens, wipe off the excess grease with a wet lint-free microfibre cloth.
Most of the Krytox grease should be in the lens now. | Wipe off the excess grease. |
- Now, you can repeat the same for the zoom rings and other areas that require weatherproofing, like the switches.
