Soyo BayOne XP 9-In-1 Multi-Card Reader Review

Introduction

Card readers are growing more and more popular. They have become somewhat of a necessity as we now use a plethora of gadgets which, for a variety of reasons, use different kinds of memory cards.

Rather than connecting each and every device to our computers, it would be easier if we just use a multi-card reader instead. With a multi-card reader, we only need to insert the memory card and we can immediately access the data. No need to mess around with cables.

I personally find this very helpful because I swap my memory cards in and out very often. It saves time and effort to use a multi-card reader.

Today, we're going to take a look at an internal multi-card reader from Soyo - the Soyo BayOne XP!

As always, before we get into the details, here's a little info on Soyo.

Soyo

Soyo was established in 1985 and is based in Taipei, Taiwan. They are one of Taiwan's leading manufacturers of computer and networking parts. They are perhaps most well-known for their Dragon series of motherboards. Soyo has offices in Taiwan, Brazil, and the USA.

Now, let's get on with the review!

Packaging

The Soyo BayOne XP came in an attractive box that highlights a little bit about itself.

Box Front

The front of the box suggests some uses for BayOne and the type of media it can handle. At the lower-right corner, it shows the contents of the box.

Let's flip it over. This is the shot of the back.

Box Back

At the back of the box, there's a picture of the Soyo BayOne XP. On the right is a list of the BayOne's key features.

Here's a shot of the side of the box, showing the contents of the package.

List of Contents

Here's a shot of the specifications printed on the side.

Specifications from the Box

Yet again, the picture says it all. This card reader is USB 2.0-compliant so it should be faster than those that are USB 1.1 compliant. Now, let's open it up!
