ED#198 : Samsung Announces Availability Of The 64 GB Galaxy S6 Edge Smartphone
When Samsung first announced that their Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones would only be available with a 32 GB storage option in Malaysia, there was a collective groan of disappointment, as the new Galaxy smartphones did not come with expandable storage in the form of a microSD slot. Everyone started clamouring for the 64 GB models.
Two weeks ago, we revealed that Samsung Malaysia was under pressure to increase prices due to the unfavourable exchange rate - the Ringgit was plummeting, hitting RM 3.7075 on the 14th of April, 2015. In fact, this was the same reason why Samsung Malaysia could not bring in the 64 GB initially - they would have to price them way too high to sell well.
Well, the good news is that the Ringgit has strengthened against the US Dollar - it's now trading under RM 3.55 to the Dollar, and is likely to strengthen further. Hence, Samsung Malaysia has now deemed it time to announce the availability of the 64 GB Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone at RM 3,599 (~US$ 1013), inclusive of GST!
Do note though that only the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will be available with the 64 GB storage option. The Samsung Galaxy S6 will still be available only with 32 GB of internal storage. So if you want 64 GB of storage, you must buy the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA, April 30 2015 – Samsung Malaysia Electronics is pleased to announce today the availability of the 64GB storage option of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge much to the delight of Malaysian customers who are looking for the larger storage option. Launched only a couple of weeks back, the demand for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge was much higher than initially anticipated as both phones had already reached over 20 million pre-orders globally.
Also raking in the accolades, it was just announced that Galaxy S6 and S6 edge ranked first in DxOMark tests*. DxOMark Mobile, a trusted industry standard for camera and lens quality ratings, conducts tests on mobile devices based on the technical measurements of their lenses and cameras.
Achieving an overall DxOMark Mobile Score of 86, the new Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are the new leader for smartphone image quality. The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge’s overall DxOMark Mobile score of 86 is a combination of its performance results across still and video tests in the Photo and Video sub-scores. Achieving Photo sub-score of 88 and Video sub-score of 84 means that the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are very suitable for still photography, and both results put the device ahead of the rest of the smartphone competition.

The 64GB storage option of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge will be available from mid-May at the recommended retail price of RM3599 (inclusive of GST). Choose from the beautiful range of colours from White Pearl and Black Sapphire to Gold Platinum from May onwards at all Samsung Experience Stores and Samsung authorised dealers.
