IO Meter - 4 KB Random Access
This chart shows the 4 KB random read and write performance of the solid state drives . The red bars denote write throughput while the blue bars denote read throughput. The solid state drives in this comparison were arranged according to their total write + read performance.

The best SSD for small, random accesses was the 240 GB Intel 520 Series. It was slower than the 256 GB OCZ Vector and the 80 GB OCZ RevoDrive in small, random reads but much, much faster in small, random writes. In fact, its very high write speed for small accesses placed it far ahead of every other SSD in this comparison.
IO Meter - 4 KB Sequential Access
This chart shows the 4 KB sequential read and write performance of the solid state drives. The red bars denote write throughput while the blue bars denote read throughput. The solid state drives in this comparison were arranged according to their total write + read performance.

The king of small sequential accesses was the 240 GB Intel 520 Series, followed closely by its predecessors, the 120 GB and 160 GB Intel X25-M G2 (34 nm) as well as the newer 256 GB OCZ Vector. The Intel 520 SSD was actually slightly slower than the two Intel X25-M G2 SSDs at writes, but it had a much higher read speed, so it edged out the two older SSDs in this test.
