Switchable Palm Rest
The COUGAR 700M gaming mouse comes with a pair of palm rests. The Standard palm rest is installed by default, with the option to switch to a smaller Sport mode palm rest that's provided in the package. Switching the palm rest can be a bit tricky the first time around because it's mounted on a curved rail and locked in place.

To remove the palm rest, you need to press on the button (as marked in red) and push the palm rest downwards and outwards as it needs to slide off a curved rail. Just pushing the palm rest downwards will get you nowhere. Once the Standard palm rest slides off the rail, place the Sport palm rest onto the rail and slide inwards and upwards until it locks in place.

You might be wondering - does the Sport mode palm rest really make any difference? After all, it is just a smaller palm rest, isn't it? Well, take a look at what happens when I try to reach for the Fire button...

The Standard palm rest is longer and allows for more support if you like to rest your hand on your mouse. However, it makes it harder for me to reach the Fire button - note the awkward angle of my thumb and index finger. The smaller Sport palm rest allowed my hand to reach out further out, making it much more comfortable to click on the Fire button. So yes, the different palm rests do affect the COUGAR 700M's feel - you should try both out to see which suits you best.
