The Samsung SGH-F500 Ultra Video Phone

The Samsung SGH-F500 is the first mobile phone from Samsung’s new Ultra Video series. The ‘Ultra’ series cover mobile phones that have powerful functions in a sexy, slim form factor. As you can tell, having leading-edge hardware in a slim form factor cannot be cheap. As such, phones in the Samsung Ultra series will have a higher price tag.

When it comes to the Samsung SGH-F500, it's not hard to see it would command a higher price tag. After all, it is the first Samsung mobile phone to have DivX compression technology integrated. Packaging

The Samsung SGH-F500 comes in a completely black box which oozes sophistication. The current trend is to make the higher-end mobile phones (and their boxes) black in colour. Of course, the box itself does not need to be quite as fancy as the phone itself. For example, the box that Motorola’s V3i mobile phone comes in looks like it costs a bomb to design and make, but what people actually care about when they buy a mobile phone is the actual phone itself. Consumers don’t just grab a phone off the shelf just because of its exquisite packaging.

The box’s top design shows the F500 in the movie-mode, with the keypad twisted to form a sturdy stand. The labels ‘Ultra Video’ and SGH-F500 are tastefully arranged in a way that catches your attention and yet does not scream "look at me!". The back of the box has a similar design, but with a white background and the F500 shown in a different twist-position. You can't fault Samsung for this very elegant box design.
