MAC Media Interface
Common Options : Pin Strap, MII, RGMII
Quick Review
This BIOS feature determines which MAC interface is used to connect the Gigabit MAC to the external PHY devices.
When set to RGMII, the Gigabit MAC is set to use the RGMII which will be connected to reduced pin-count Gigabit PHY devices. This allows transfers of up to 1000Mbps.
When set to MII, the Gigabit MAC is set to use the MII which will be connected to Fast Ethernet PHY devices. This only allows transfers of up to 100Mbps.
When set to Pin Strap, the Gigabit MAC will automatically determine the right interface by querying the interface pins.
Please note that setting the wrong MAC interface will prevent the Gigabit MAC from connecting to its PHY devices, essentially disabling it.
If you are sure that this Gigabit MAC is connected to Gigabit PHY devices, you should set this BIOS feature to RGMII.
If you are sure that this Gigabit MAC is only connected to Fast Ethernet PHY devices, you should set this BIOS feature to MII.
If you are not sure what kind of PHY devices are connected to this Gigabit MAC, you should set this BIOS feature to Pin Strap.
