OverWrite Rx6C
Common Options : 00-FF
Quick Review
This BIOS feature is specific to motherboards that use VIA chipsets. The word Rx6C actually refers to the SDRAM Control register in VIA chipsets.
This BIOS feature is slaved to the Rx6C OverWrite BIOS feature which functions as its switch. If Rx6C OverWrite is not enabled, this BIOS feature remains grayed out.
Once you enable Rx6C OverWrite, you can then access this BIOS feature and modify the register by typing in a two hexadecimal numbers. However, it isn't as simple as it appears.
To modify the Rx6C register, you must first decide what you wish to set for all bits using the information provided by VIA (if you can get them!). Then, you need to convert the string of 8 bits into its hexadecimal form which is used to control this BIOS feature.
If it is used at all, it would be at the behest of a motherboard manufacturer to correct incompatibilities or instabilities with certain SDRAM modules.
Therefore, unless specifically ordered to modify the Rx6C register, it is highly recommended you leave this BIOS feature at its default setting.
