Since 1999, we have been developing the BIOS Optimization Guide, affectionately known as the BOG. From a meager beginning of a single page, it now covers over 440 BIOS options. As old BOG readers will know, we started offering two editions of the BOG since Revision 8.0 - a simplified edition and the complete edition.
Normally, the complete edition is only available to subscribers who help sponsor the development of the guide through a small fee. However, that changes today! From now on, we will post a BIOS option from the complete edition of the BIOS Optimization Guide every weekend.

This week, we will be taking a look at the Virtualization Technology BIOS setting. Here’s an excerpt :"Intel Virtualization Technology (IVT) is a extension of the Intel x86 architecture that allows multiple operating systems to run simultaneously on the same system. It does this by creating virtual machines, each running its own x86 operating system.
Although software virtualization though VMware and similar software is possible, they incur significant performance penalties. The IVT extensions allow operating systems that support them to..." Link : BIOS Option Of The Week - Virtualization Technology

Seriously, this isn’t the demo or trial version. This is the real deal – the FULL version of Jade Empire Special Edition, worth $18.95. Of course, this is not a very new game. Jade Empire Special Edition was released in 2007. Still, it’s worth a trip down memory lane!

The solid state drive (SSD) is a new and relatively niche storage medium, but one that is slowly but steadily eating away at the universality of the hard disk drive. After all, solid state drives offer some big advantages over hard disk drives - extremely fast random accesses, absolutely silent operation, ability to withstand tremendous amounts of shock, vibration and atmospheric pressure (or the lack thereof).
This comparison guide will compare the performance of all the solid state drives we can get our hands on. This would be similar to our Hard Disk Drive Performance Comparison Guide. It may start off small, but we intend to keep adding new solid state drives and even new benchmarks as we go along.

Here are the latest updates :- Added the 240 GB HyperX Savage SSD. Link : Solid State Drive Performance Comparison Guide Rev. 3.4
