Examining The CoolPad
Opening the carry case, we can see that Cooler Master used polyethylene foam to pad the CoolPad. A simple packaging technique indeed, but an effective one nonetheless.
As long as the CoolPad is well padded, there is no risk of damage even if you drop the case. In fact, the hard plastic carry case itself can already take a lot of physical insult.
The Cooler Master CoolPad
The CoolPad is 99% made of aluminium with the two fans as the only non-aluminium parts. However, as light as aluminum is, the CoolPad still weighs a hefty 1.1kg! Looking at the CoolPad from the top, we can see that there are two round holes.
Those holes were designed to draw hot air from under the notebook through the aluminium base. The hot air is then expelled out the sides of the CoolPad.
To protect the fans from foreign objects (like that little finger of yours!), CoolerMaster has kindly placed an aluminum grate over each fan.
