Creating A Profile
This hack requires the ATI Catalyst Control Center. The ATI Catalyst Software Suite that most users download consists of a Radeon display driver and the Catalyst Control Center. However, ATI also provides a smaller, driver-only download. If you choose to install only the driver, instead of the full Catalyst driver set, then you will not be able to modify the fan speed.
You can download the latest ATI Catalyst Software Suite here. You can also download the latest Catalyst Control Center if you previously installed only the display driver.
After installing the Catalyst Control Center, load it up and look for a section called ATI Overdrive. Click on it and the ATI Overdrive screen will appear (first picture below). If you have not already done so, you need to click on the lock icon to unlock ATI Overdrive. If you wish to overclock, then you will also need to tick the Enable ATI Overdrive checkbox. Otherwise, just unlocking ATI Overdrive is all you need to do.
Next, click on the Profiles option at the top menu and select the Profiles Manager to launch it. You will need to create a profile here. To do that, click on the empty drop-down box, circled in red, in the first picture below and type a name for the profile.
Then select on the "all Catalyst© Control Center settings" option and click Save. In this example, we created a profile called Adrian. You can now close the Profiles Manager, but leave the Catalyst Control Center open.
