Company Of Heroes (DirectX 9)
The boost in memory bandwidth only had a small effect on the frame rate, even at 1920 x 1200. The greatest performance boost was seen when we overclocked the GPU. Together, both the overclocked GPU and memory bus improved the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB's performance by 15.2% at 1920 x 1200.
Company Of Heroes (DirectX 10)
The same trend was seen when we switched to DirectX 10 in Company Of Heroes, with the GPU's effect particularly pronounced. The fully-overclocked card was 16.1% faster at 1920 x 1200.
BioShock (DirectX 9)
In BioShock, the overclocked GPU still delivered the biggest boost but the boost in memory speed was almost as important. When both were overclocked, they delivered a 15.2% boost in frame rate at 1920 x 1200.
BioShock (DirectX 10)
The same trend was seen when we switched to DirectX 10 in BioShock. At 1920 x 1200, the importance of the smaller boost in memory speed matched that of the overclocked GPU.
