The New GeForce 7300 GS

On January 19th, 2006, NVIDIA launched the new GeForce 7300 GS GPU. The latest member of the 7xxx series of GPUs, it comes with all the features of the GeForce 7800, like :

  • NVIDIA PureVideo™ technology
  • Support for Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0 Shader Model 3.0 and HDR rendering
  • NVIDIA TurboCache™ technology

It is the first NVIDIA GPU to feature the smaller 90nm process technology. But make no mistake - this is no high-end card like the GeForce 7800 GTX.

It's meant to be an entry-level card to replace the GeForce 6200, with a price target of $99. In addition, NVIDIA insists that it's not positioned against the ATI Radeon X1300Pro. Rather, it's targeted at the upcoming X1300LE.

For a change, the Asia Pacific region will be the first to receive shipment of the new GeForce 7300 GS cards. Of course, this was only to take advantage of the Chinese New Year celebrations. The GeForce 7300 GS cards will only be available in the US and Europe in early February.
