Earbuds
This player comes with a pair of earbuds. There are no marking on the earbuds except for the R (Right) and L (Left) markings. So, there's really no way to know whether these earbuds were produced by Hyundai themselves or not.
Surprisingly, this pair of earbuds is pretty good. At least much better than most cheap earbuds out there. In fact, it's nearly on par with the Sony earbuds I have. The only complaint I have about it is that it is a little soft on the bass.
Well, I also have to bear with the extra-long right cable. When I wear it around my neck, you can actually see an EXTRA 3-4 inches (10 cm) of cable curling on my shoulder. Maybe it's just me but I dislike extra long cables like this and especially when there's no way for me to adjust it.
USB Extension Cable
Included with the package is a 1.25 metre (3+ feet) long USB extension cable. This cable allows you to easily connect the MP3 player to your USB port if they are at the back of your computer case.
Before I connected this cable to my PC, I tried connecting the MP3 player directly to my 4-port USB hub which was connected to the USB port at the back of my PC. This hub was already servicing my Logitech MX500 mouse, a scanner and a printer.
Unfortunately, Windows XP just wouldn't detect the player. It looks like I cannot connect this player to the USB hub.
Neck Strap
The neck strap is quite good actually . It's reasonably long. It's really nothing fancy but still nicer than most other neck straps I've seen.
However, I'm worried about the thin wire used to attach the neck strap to the Hyundai MP3 player. It looks like it will probably wear off after prolonged usage. The next thing you know... "Where's my player???"
User Manual
The manual is a rather thick booklet that teaches you how to make use of the HY-6611's numerous features. It only covers two languages though - Mandarin and English.
It's nice to see a proper manual, instead of the usual manual-in-a-diskette or manual-in-a-CD. It makes checking up on the player's features a lot easier.
Battery
The HY-6611 MP3 player is powered by a single 1.5V AAA battery. Hyundai was kind enough to provide a 1.5V AAA Maxell alkaline battery with the package. According to Hyundai, a single AAA alkaline battery should provide enough juice for 15 hours of non-stop music!
If you are wondering about rechargeable batteries, well, good news! I tried this player with a Sanyo 1.2V NiMH rechargeable battery and it worked without any problem. However, connecting the MP3 player to the USB port will not recharge the NiMH battery. You have to use a separate recharger to recharge the battery.
Installation CD
The driver and utilities comes in a 3.5" mini CD. This mini CD includes the Hyundai MP3 player driver for Windows 98SE. If you are using Windows XP or newer, you do not need to load any driver to access the player.
You will find the following software in this CD :
