ED#204 : How Useful Is The Extra Memory In The ASUS ZenFone 2?

One of the reasons why the ASUS ZenFone 2 was such a hit was the fact that it was the first smartphone to feature 4 GB of RAM. Practically all smartphones at the same price point came with just 2 GB of RAM. Even top-of-the-line models like the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge that cost more than twice as much came with just 3 GB of RAM.

In this comparison, we will compare the memory used by the ASUS ZenFone 2 against the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Let's compare the key specifications of the three smartphones :

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge

In our review of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, we noted that multitasking with several active apps was a problem due to the lack of memory. On closer examination, we can see that even after a reboot, it only had 537 MB of free memory. After accounting for the cached apps, the Galaxy S6 edge only had 200 MB of actual free memory for apps to use.
