The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Tech Report

It's been more than a year since Kepler was launched. In an industry where 6 month product cycles used to be the norm, NVIDIA took almost a year to refresh Kepler. They did so on the 19th of February 2013 when they released the NVIDIA GeForce TITAN.

Today, exactly fourteen months after the GeForce GTX 680's launch, NVIDIA follows up with the new GeForce GTX 780, which slots in right under the GeForce TITAN. Let's take a look.

 

A Big Upgrade Over The GeForce GTX 680

The new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 will have 12 SMX units, which gives it a total of 2,304 CUDA cores. This is 50% more than what the GeForce GTX 680 had. Of course, this is offset by a lower clock speed, but NVIDIA assures us that GeForce GTX 780's performance will be significantly better than that of the GeForce GTX 680. This is also because the GeForce GTX 780 will have a wider 384-bits memory bus, allowing it to deliver 50% more memory bandwidth!

All this processing power will allow you, the gamer, to enjoy hyper-realistic games. That is, of course, if and when more games like Metro : Last Light hit the market.
