How Fast Is The GeForce GTX 580?
Okay, let's take a look at some charts NVIDIA provided. Here, they compared the GeForce GTX 580 against the GeForce GTX 480 and the AMD Radeon HD 6870 with the ATI Radeon HD 5870 serving as baseline. Needless to say - the NVIDIA cards totally killed the competition... according to NVIDIA, that is.
It was just as much of a turkey shoot when they compared the GeForce GTX 580 SLI against the ATI Radeon HD 5870 CrossFire. It makes you wonder - why is AMD even alive? With this kind of horrifyingly poor performance, they should file for Chapter 11 protection, not raking in millions of dollars in sales. Funny, ain't it?
Here's a easier-to-compare chart that uses the ATI Radeon HD 5870 as the baseline. According to this chart, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 is at least 19% faster and up to 2.65x faster than the Radeon HD 5870. On average, it would be about 65% faster than the Radeon HD 5870.
Again, the NVIDIA graphics cards mauled the AMD graphics cards so badly, the boys at Santa Clara must be wondering - why won't the AMD jerks just shoot themselves in the head and end NVIDIA's misery?
