Getting To The Root Of The Matter (Continued)
Here was my e-mail to the Highpoint Service Centre.
Hi,
I've been told by an Acer authorized dealer that by replacing the RAM module with a third party manufacturer, that will nullify and void the whole one-year international warranty that Acer offers. Is that true?
From that statement, this is what I understood from your dealer at the ITCS Computer Fair recently at PWTC.
Warranty will be void for all parts if the notebook is not returned with a RAM module with 'ACER' warranty sticker on it.
So, if the latch fails for example, warranty will be voided if I trade back the 256x2 RAM module and upgraded it to 3rd party 512x2 RAM modules, even if installed by the authorized Acer dealer.
Is this right? Did I understand what the dealer said correctly? Or was I misinformed by the dealer? If I'm wrong, please correct me. Please respond as soon as possible,

And here is their reply.
Dear Ken,
If the RAM is installed by an Acer authorized dealer or Acer Service Centre, it will not void the warranty of the notebook provided you have the proof of purchase from the shop. Thanks.
Best Regards

Hah! That shows jusst how unprofessional Acer's representative was at Computer Fair. I’ve no idea what they have against Adrian and I, to have given us such treatment. They weren’t even trying to sell us the notebooks.
If they actually told us that "if the RAM was installed by an Acer authorized dealer or Acer Service Centre, it will not void the warranty of the notebook provided you have the proof of purchase from the shop", Adrian and I would not have been so, for the lack of a better word, unforgiving.
