Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical Review

History Of My Mice

Ever since I bought my first PC (which was a very old 8MHz 8088 with 640KB of RAM and a Genius mouse), I've never worked on a PC without a mouse especially after I started using Windows. Mouse is one of the most important components in the Windows environment. Try using keyboard in Windows. It's a pain in the ass!

Let's cut the crap and get straight to the point.

I always need to change my mouse frequently because the moving parts in the mouse gets worn down very fast, and it collects dust like a vacuum cleaner. I have tried all kinds of mice, including traditional 2-buttons, 3-buttons (my first mouse was a 3-button mouse), MS Mouse, Logitech First Mouse, Logitech MouseMan+ and the MS IntelliMouse.

All the mice listed above had one common problem - the rollers and the ball collecting dust and making the mouse unresponsive. Slamming or hitting the mouse is a common act people do when that happens but doing that will not help at all. All you have to do is use a cotton bud to clean them. Why am I saying all this? This is suppose to be a review and not a guide. :)

Introduction

Now, on to the revolutionary optical sensor mouse, the Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical. Finally, a revolution after so many years. Instead of using a mouse ball and rollers, they took out all moving parts and used an optical sensor instead. This means it requires almost zero maintenance. This is a good news for all those who torture their pets.
