The Module
The 512MB Mushkin PC4400 DDR SDRAM module is a double-sided module with 16 chips total on both sides. Like the PC3200 L2V2 modules, the PC4400 modules also come with black anodised copper heatspreaders. But don't be surprised if you get modules with a different colour. Just be sure to check the label on the heatspreader.
The heatspreaders are attached to the modules using a metal clip, as shown in the pictures below.
The copper heatspreaders were affixed to the memory chips using thermal tapes. Unlike some of the modules we have seen, all of the memory chips adhered to the heatspreaders properly.
Mushkin has followed the path taken by Corsair and Patriot by using the Brainpower PCB, which has been known to allow modules to overclock better than those based on the JEDEC reference PCB.
The RAM chips hidden behind the heatspreader are nothing but the famous Samsung K4H560838F-TCCD SDRAM chips!
