How Fast Is The GeForce GTX 570?
Okay, let's take a look at some charts NVIDIA provided. Here, they compared the GeForce GTX 570 against the GeForce GTX 470. Too bad they didn't include the GeForce GTX 480.
Just like we saw with the GeForce GTX 580, the GeForce GTX 470 was about 25% faster than the "equivalent model" from the previous generation. The architectural enhancements in the NVIDIA GF110 GPU used in the GeForce GTX 570 boasts improved performance of roughly 7% over the previous GF100 GPU used in the GeForce GTX 470 graphics card.
The rest of the GeForce GTX 570's improved performance is actually a product of the 32 extra stream processors (CUDA cores) and the higher clock speeds. This is very similar to how Intel improved performance and overclockability of their D0 core (of the Intel Core i7 processor) just by tweaking the design.
In this following chart, they compared the GeForce GTX 570 against the AMD Radeon HD 5870 and the AMD Radeon HD 6870. Needless to say, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 massacred the competition. Of course, these are NVIDIA's own results and as far as we recall, NVIDIA's graphics cards never lost any test to any AMD/ATI graphics card in any of their charts. No surprise there.
Here, they compared the multi-GPU performance of two GeForce GTX 570 graphics cards in SLI mode to two AMD Radeon HD 5870 graphics cards in CrossFire mode. Using the AMD Radeon HD 5870 CrossFire as the baseline, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 SLI appears to have a 30% performance advantage (on average). Again, these are NVIDIA's own results, so take them with a pinch or two of salt.
