OCZ 1GB Mini-Kart USB Flash Drive Review

Introduction

OCZ Technology is one of the few manufacturers that pops into the mind when we are looking for high-performance memory for gaming machines. However, we are not going to be talking about their DRAM products today.

After tackling the DRAM market, OCZ Technology branched out into the flash memory market. Their first flash memory product was the OCZ Rally series of USB flash drives.

The OCZ Rally series were pretty much conventional USB flash drives. But knowing OCZ Technology, they would always come up with something really snazzy, like their new ultra-slim Mini-Kart USB flash drives!

The OCZ Mini-Kart

With so many USB flash drives in the market, we have to ask - what's so special about the OCZ Mini-Kart? This is what OCZ had to say :-

The Mini-Kart housing is 2.8mm thick, making this compact unit small enough to store in your wallet, ensuring that it is always handy to access or transfer documents, music, pictures and videos from your home or work computer. As a result of the incredibly thin Mini-Kart profile you’ll never have to unplug surrounding USB ports to make room, a common problem with many oversized competitor drives. The Mini-Kart has a highly durable USB connector that is designed to be exposed without any issues.

That's ultra-slim! So, that's the secret of the new OCZ Mini-Kart, the killer feature OCZ is hoping will differentiate the Mini-Kart from the rest of the pack.

There's no doubt such a slim design will be very attractive for users who are not content with the size limitations imposed by the USB connector. But will it have any adverse effect on its performance? We will find out soon enough.

First, let's take a look at the package!
