The Interface

Sony has used the same interface that they used on the PlayStation Portable (PSP). Sony calls this interface the XrossMediaBar, or XMB for short. I, for one, really like this interface as it makes navigation really easy. It is almost exactly like the PSP except it naturally has more options than the PSP.

With the XMB interface, the user can quickly move from one part to another by moving left or right to access each individual menu and then using the up and down buttons to scroll through each respective option.

Another interesting aspect of the XMB is that it changes color depending on the month of the year! In January, it had a grayish color scheme. It will also change the tone to a different shade, depending on the time of day (day or night).

To start a game, simply scroll horizontally to the game heading and then scroll down to the game. It will then preview the game so that you'll know which one you're playing. After that, simply hit the X button on the Six Axis controller and off you go!

It's the same way, if you would like to play a movie. Simply scroll horizontally until you get to Video, then select the disc. In this case, I am about to play a Blu-ray movie.
