IO Meter - 512 KB Random Access

This chart shows the 512 KB random read and write performance of the solid state drives. The red bars denote write throughput while the blue bars denote read throughput. The solid state drives in this comparison were arranged according to their total write + read performance.

The fastest SSD in large random accesses was the 240 GB HyperX Savage, which beat the 256 GB OCZ Vector, and even the PCI Express-based 80 GB OCZ RevoDrive. It was particularly fast in large reads, delivering 33% better performance than the Vector and RevoDrive. On the other hand, the HyperX Savage was slightly (7.5%) slower than the OCZ Vector in large writes. This is very likely due to its smaller 256 MB DDR3L SDRAM cache.

IO Meter - 512 KB Sequential Access

This chart shows the 512 KB sequential read and write performance of the solid state drives. The red bars denote write throughput while the blue bars denote read throughput. The solid state drives in this comparison were arranged according to their total write + read performance.

Again, the 240 GB HyperX Savage was the fastest drive, followed by the 256 GB OCZ Vector and the 80 GB OCZ RevoDrive. Delivering a sequential write speed of 522 MB/s, the HyperX Savage was twice as fast as the Western Digital Black²!
