The Hard Drive

The 500 GB Western Digital Caviar GP hard drive looks just like most 3.5" desktop hard drive, with a label on the top plate and an uncovered PCB on the underside.

The label has a lot of important information, like the hard drive model and capacity, and jumper settings. There are also interesting details like its date and place of manufacture (Malaysia!).

Also, the label is where you look for the drive's serial number in case you need to RMA it. Of course, we hope that never happens!

Let's take a look at its specifications.
