HDTach 3.010
Average Read Speed
Thanks to its higher areal density, the 160GB Momentus 5400.3 beat its older brother, the Momentus 5400.2 by 6.2%. The Fujitsu MHT2040AT, which ran at only 4200 RPM, was a really slow performer by comparison. The new Momentus 5400.3 was faster by 56.3%!
Burst Speed
Thanks to the large and fast SDRAM buffer, all three Seagate Momentus hard drives had burst speeds that were more than twice as high as that of the Fujitsu MHT2040AT!
Random Access
Thanks to the higher spindle speed, it was inevitable that the Momentus 5400.3 would record a 12.6% faster random access time than the Fujitsu MHT2040AT hard drive. However, it was slower than its predecessor by 4.2%.
CPU Utilization
As far as CPU utilization was concerned, the difference between 2% and 4% is actually within the benchmark's margin of error and therefore can be considered more or less similar.
