Installing The CoolDrive 3
Installing the CoolDrive 3 is a very easy process. Just mount the hard disk onto the metal tray and then slide them into the aluminum enclosure!
And there you have it - your hard disk with its own cooling system! After that, installing it into the computer case is as easy as installing a CD-ROM.
While the front bezel looks really good, it doesn't really match some computer cases. For example, my plain looking case. The CoolDrive 3 should look very good in an aluminum case with matching bezels.
The CoolDrive3 allows convenient connection between the PSU and the hard disk as the 4-pin molex connector that powers up the fan and blue lights also connects the PSU cable to the hard disk.
Please note that the CoolDrive 3 will only fit standard profile 3.5" hard disks. You can install the new 3.5" hard disks of the low profile type into the CoolDrive 3. However, they will not come into contact with the themal tape on the undersurface of the aluminum enclosure's roof. There will be no direct contact between the hard disk and the aluminum enclosure.
This means that with such low-profile hard disks, the CoolDrive 3's aluminum enclosure no longer serves as a heat sink! The only cooling effect will come from the fan.
Now, let's test the CoolDrive 3's performance!
