Powering The Display
Unfortunately, the LCD monitor did not come with a power connector. It only had a pair of red and black wires running out the back. The manufacturer assumes that you would know how to connect them to a 12V power source.
I could buy an AC-DC adapter and plugged it into the inverter to power the monitor but that would just be wasting space and current. So, I bought a power socket and a PC power splitter instead and came up with this!
With this setup, I'm able to power the monitor directly off the Shuttle's power supply! The monitor's manual states that it only consumes 6 watts of power so it shouldn't be too much of a burden on the Shuttle's power supply! =P
I had to place the power socket some place where I could plug the monitor's power cable in. So, I punched a hole through the Shuttle case. Or rather, my father did! I'm still not very good with power tools. Thanks Dad!
The Power Plug
Unfortunately, I punched the hole in the wrong place, making it inconvenient to close the case... Sigh... Anyway, the monitor can be directly powered by the computer's power supply. No additional power bricks necessary!
The complete system!
