Toshiba

Together with Sony and Fujitsu, Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD) has quite a reputation for turning out really innovative notebooks. Toshiba notebooks have long been known for their quality and reliability as well as sleek designs.

Like other companies offering notebooks, Toshiba offers several product lines. Their Satellite line is the consumer line and covers everything from entry-level notebooks to high-end multimedia notebooks. The Tecra line is targeted at business users and offers greater performance and expandability. Finally, the Portégé is Toshiba's featherweight line and portability is the name of its game.

Today, we will take a look at one of Toshiba's latest high-end Satellite models - the Satellite M30.

The Toshiba Satellite M30/35

The Toshiba Satellite M30/35 series of notebooks were launched on October 21st, 2003. To date, they are the lightest Satellite models at just below 3 kg. They are also the first Toshiba notebooks to come bundled with Microsoft OneNote 2003. Now, what's the difference between the M30 and the M35 series?

Both series are actually similar. They are both Centrino-based, come with the same wide-screen XGA display and NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 graphics chip. In fact, they look the same outside. Only certain components differed between the two series. Of course, the specifications of the M30 and M35 notebooks will vary from country to country. But generally, the M35 comes with a bigger 60GB hard disk and either a faster processor or more memory.

I recently picked up a Toshiba Satellite M30-S730 during the recent PC Fair. Come, let's take a look at it!
