The WD TV
The WD TV player comes shrink-wrapped to protect its shiny surface, which unfortunately is highly susceptible to fingerprint smears. Removing it is simple enough, but it is nigh impossible to keep the WD TV's glossy surface fingerprint-free after that. It's true when they say that beauty comes at a price.
There is also a warning sticker that shows you the proper way to place the WD TV and the WD Passport USB drive. You should never stack the Passport drive (or any other HDD-based storage device) on top of the WD TV as the heat generated by the WD TV may reduce the lifespan of the USB drive.
The WD TV player has a very simple, minimalistic design. The front of the player is devoid of anything but a power icon and a USB icon. They light up when the player is active and a USB link is established. The back of the player is where most of the action is. From left to right, you will find a Power port, another USB 2.0 port, a HDMI port, an S/PDIF port and the three composite AV ports.
On the left side of the player is a single USB 2.0 port with a small Reset button located just next to it. The right side of the player doubles as the base when the player is placed vertically. Thus, there is nothing there except for the label displaying the model and serial numbers.
